In March of 2007, after a wonderful Sweet Adeline’s concert in Clarkston, a small huddle of Barbershop converts resolved to form a Men's Barbershop Chorus, in hopes of having that much fun ourselves! We became a Chartered Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society in 2008, and put on our first show that year. We've been meeting weekly ever since, and now have a solid core of good singers and a varied repertoire of great songs. We work on our singing technique and keep each other in line and young at heart.
Barbershop itself is evolving-- it's not just those wonderful old songs anymore (although we sing those too). There's a new breed of talented composers writing exciting and modern arrangements of new and classic tunes, borrowing from jazz, swing, broadway and popular music. Some of these arrangements are smooth and sweet, some are lively and catchy, and some are downright outrageous-- we like to try them all!
